2007 grants from the Kentucky Book Fair
The Kentucky Book Fair, Inc., has awarded eleven (11) grants to libraries from the proceeds of the 2006 event. This nonprofit organization was founded to coordinate the annual Kentucky Book Fair with proceeds supporting Kentucky’s libraries.
Since the inception of the Kentucky Book Fair in 1981, over $300,000 has been awarded to Kentucky libraries. Our 26 year history shows that each year approximately 150 authors attend to autograph copies of their latest books, and as many as 5,000 patrons attend and purchase over $150,000 in gross sales.
The following eleven (11) libraries were approved for grants totaling $10,000.00.
- $1,000 to Allen Central Middle School in Floyd County to purchase a core health collection for students
- $1,000 to Campbellsville High School in Taylor County to update the library reference collection
- $1,000 to Clinton County Public Library for picture books for preschoolers
- $1,000 to Faust Elementary School in Daviess County to modernize the world and U.S. history and geography collection
- $1,000 to Joe Harrison Carter Elementary School in Monroe County to increase graphic novels and books of interest to boys
- $500 to Lewis County Public Library for sports biographies
- $500 to McCreary County Public Library to offer a wider variety of teen books
- $1,000 to Metcalfe County Public Library to expand the non-fiction teen collection
- $1,000 to Nicholas County High School for increasing the number of technology and science books in the library
- $1,000 to Union Chapel Elementary School in Russell County to replace worn and outdated books for students in the 4th through 6th grades
- $1,000 to Willard Elementary School in Perry County to purchase a new encyclopedia and almanac
