The KENTUCKY BOOK FAIR will host its first inaugural Children’s Day on Friday, November 11th from 9.a.m. to 2 p.m. Over 35 children’s and YA authors will be in attendance, including George Ella Lyon, Mark Wayne Adams, Marcia Thornton Jones, Leigh Anne Florence, Alison Hart, Loretta Ellsworth and Kristin Tubb. Admission is free; there will be opportunities to hear your favorite author speak. Odyssey magazine writer Dan Risch will guide students as they create their own monthly magazine feature. They’ll learn a few tricks of the magazine trade while soaking up the basics of good writing in his presentation, The Making of O and Aarti: Kids on a Mission. See author/illustrator Mark Wayne Adams create a wonderland before your very eyes. Listen to Loretta Ellsworth as she discusses her inspiration behind her new book, Unforgettable, the story of a boy who remembers everything and is unable to forget.

Field trips are welcome, and admission is free, but pre-registration is required. Deadline for registration is October 14th. Students may bring sack lunches, and free bus parking is available. Click here for the registration form.
Douglas Boyd, Author of Crawfish Bottom, will provide a brief presentation and sign copies of his new book at the Orlando Brown House on Friday, November 11, from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, November 11th as a precursor to the Kentucky Book Fair and part of Downtown Frankfort’s Candlelight Tour.
The Lunch with Bob Edwards has been cancelled due to low ticket sales. Bob Edwards will be signing books on Saturday.

St. Catharine College will present selections from the American Library Association’s List of Top 100 Banned and Challenged Books (2000-2009) during the KY Book Fair at the Frankfort convention Center on Nov. 12. The morning session starts at 11 a.m. and the afternoon session starts at 1 p.m. Please visit the SCC table at the book fair for location information.
The Kentucky Book Fair & The Kentucky Historical Society Present: The Civil War: After 150 Years, Why Are We Still Fascinated?
The panel discussion will occur on November 12, 2011 at Noon in the Old State Capital. Dr. James Klotter, State Historian of Kentucky, will act as moderator, and the panel will include Charles Bracelen Flood, Brian D. McKnight, James A. Ramage, Andrea Watkins, and Donald A. Clark.
